Tip: Laundry Day
Band guys are often seen as sweaty maybe wearing the same clothes two nights in a row but while on tour one of the most important days is “Laundry Day”. Planning a time or a day where you can do your laundry is a big deal. If you’re a bigger band and have a friend traveling with you maybe they’ll be nice enough to do the bands laundry while they get ready for a show. I know things like eating is more important than taking the time to do laundry but when your fans want pictures and hugs being smelly is going to stay with them long after your band has moved on to a different city. When asked about your show their just going to remember you didn’t smell good. Take advantage of that one day a week that you get to wash your clothes on tour. Before you leave take Ten bucks to the bank and get a roll of quarters, it’ll be worth it.

Tip Of The Week 6 : Videos
I find it great to go on a bands facebook and see a video that actually has some sort of personality. Seeing a video of my favorite bands on their down time or in the studio helps me believe that they aren’t some phoney record label created band who don’t even like each other. Videos give fans a visual side of music that they can enjoy now on many devices so i recommend getting a few videos on the net. Don’t have a video camera? No problem. Everyone and their mom has an iphone or evo or whatever which all shoot video’s in HD. Give it a try and download some of those free editing software and be on your way to the video side of music.

TIP OF THE WEEK: Monthly summary.
We’ve been doing tips of the week for one month now.
TIP 1 : NEVER over play one area ( it gets old when bands play the same area)
TIP 2 : Never cancel ( Cancelling cause industry reps to doubt your credibility)
TIP 3: Playing out of your genre ( Playing a metal show as a pop band makes you seem foolish and cause a low turn out)
TIP 4 : Alcohol ( To much Alcohol is a problem when your a musician too)
Keeping these tips in mind will help you on your path to stardom and gold records. lol
SHORT TIP OF THE WEEK 5: Free music
Give some music away for free every now and then. Dont give away your old demos that sound bad, give away a good song that will have your fans listening and wanting more.

Tip Of the week 4: Alcohol
Alcohol is fun and can help a lot with a musicians nerves, but when is it to much? Quite a few musicians use alcohol to make it easier to stand in front of the crowd and be crazy. Consuming to much alcohol makes for a bad show. Musicians who drink to much often cant focus on their instrument or singing. Many Musicians think consuming alcohol is a good thing but the results can be bad. As an example Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria had to stop their headlining tour so he could sober up.
Eventhough alcohol can be fun, as an artist, its only good off stage or in moderation.

Tip Of The Week 3: Playing out of your genre.
Playing out of your genre seems like a good idea if your opening for a big artist, but in the end you’re wasting your time. When you are opening for a pop artist as a hardcore band you are going to gain little fans if any. Artist sticking to there genre gain more fans playing many local shows and often have a bigger turn out. `If you want to play for a bigger artist in your genre you have to become the leader in your local scene.

Tip of the Week (week 2)
Never cancel.
In the music industry at any level appointments and meetings are very important. A big downfall to many musicians is cancelling. When you cancel a show every venue manager has doubts next time you ask to book a show. Cancelling on any big name puts you in a bad spot. If you for any reason you have to cancel on a show try asking a friend to fill the spot for the venue giving you some sort of credibility. If you cancel on the music industry the music industry will cancel you.
